Almost two years after his debut on Slime, Melbourne producer Aaron Static returns to the UK label with the finely crafted Perihelion EP. Cleverly placing soft, melancholic synths throughout the release, he creates a vibrant atmosphere that spreads to all of its three tracks, making them feel inherently connected. With its impelling garage beat and swelling bass notes, the title track embodies this flowing nature. This continues on ‘Iniquitous Morning’. Here, Aaron Static plays with dynamics, laying out a spacious arrangement before the bass dominates its second half. ‘Aphelion’ on the other hand is rooted in a house rhythm, its splashes of reverberant vocals bridging it with its predecessors.
