Projects

Explore Aaron Static's various projects created in his spare time in a variety of programming languages. He is dedicated to making tools which help musicians and producers be more creative and musical in their work, and also has a passion for video game design and modding.

VCV Rack Modules

VCV Rack Modules

A set of modules for VCV Rack, the virtual modular synthesizer, used by over 20,000 people. They bring music theory into your patches, so you can work with chords, scales and progressions directly instead of dialling each note in by hand.

ChordCV, ScaleCV and DiatonicCV handle chords, scales and diatonic chord progressions, with control over root note, chord type, inversion and voicing. RandomNoteCV adds some controlled randomness, picking notes from a set range or an input scale.

This Website

This Website

This site is a project in its own right, built and maintained by Aaron Static to bring his music, mixes and other work together in one place.

It runs on Next.js 15, React and TypeScript, with the release and mix listings pulled live from the Spotify and Mixcloud APIs and the pages server-side rendered. It is deployed in Docker.

Overthrow

Overthrow

Overthrow is a game mode for Arma 3, the military simulation by Bohemia Interactive. Players start with nothing and work to topple an occupying government through guerrilla warfare, capturing towns, building up bases, recruiting AI fighters and earning money along the way. It runs in both single-player and multiplayer, with an economy and mission system that shifts as you play.

Aaron created and led the project with a team of collaborators that changed over the years. It now lives on as the 'Community Edition' fork, actively maintained by Thomas Angel (aka Rekter).

It has been installed by close to 50,000 players and turned up on the YouTube channels of The Spiffing Brit and Rimmy Downunder, which between them have been watched by millions.
